Improving the environment for local capacity development is an essential element in SNV’s strategy. Local capacity builders are a vital resource for effective and sustainable local development. Collaborating with them is part of the SNV-brand: our way of achieving lasting development results.
The Local Capacity Development Facility (LCDF) delivery channel focuses on improving the market environment for capacity development services in rural and sub-national areas. SNV supports national LCDF organizations to develop and implement grant making and brokering services. Grant making focuses on cost sharing with local actors for the acquisition of local capacity development services, tailored to local solutions. Brokering services are designed to the specific market environments and may include physical or electronic market interfaces, and multi-stakeholder processes to define standards and quality assurance for capacity development services.
LCDF initiatives in Latin America, Vietnam, Kenya and Albania are operational. In Latin America, a TA facility in collaboration with responsAbility Invest AG is targeting support to local solutions through Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) oriented advisory services.
